Opening Childhood Sweden!

Today, Princess Madeleine officially opened World Childhood Foundation- Sweden's new office. They moved into the new office in Stockholm earlier this year but today was the official day! (Similar to how Queen Elizabeth II's father died a year before her coronation) Madeleine has been involved with World Childhood Foundation for many years, although she is most associated with working there since 2011 when she moved to New York City to be a Project Manager. In February of this year, she was appointed an Board Member of Childhood and was in the US when Prince Alexander was born working on their newest initiative, Eyes Wide Open.

For today's events, she wore a blouse from Chloe. She has had this blouse since 2014 at least. She finished the look with a white blazer and white trouser. Again, like on Friday, I wish she was wearing a bit more color, but she looks very professional. I imagine after this, she flew back to London with the kids. Tomorrow is Madeleine and Chris' 3rd wedding anniversary so would imagine that they are spending the day as a family. It appears that she is wearing the same gold hoops, that we saw on Friday and possibly her Krista Kretzschmar bangle. She appears to be wearing nude shoes- but I cannot tell from these 2 photos.

In the next week or so, keep your eyes open for a big change on the blog! It's going to be good- I promise!

Glad Nationaldag!

Today, June 6th, is Sweden's National Day! June 6th was chosen for two reasons, in 1523 Gustav Vasa was elected King, laying the ground work for Sweden to be come an independent state, and in 1809 Sweden adopted a new constitution. In 1916, the day was given the title of Flag Day, marking that Sweden had acquired its own flag after the separation from Norway. The day has been celebrated since 1983 as National Day, however it was not celebrated as a public holiday until 2004.

Today the royal family is participating in a variety of events throughout the country. However before we even get to those, let's look at the adorable photos that the Royal Court published this morning. These photos, taken by Kate Gabor, feature Estelle, Oscar, and Victoria out in the yard of Haga Palace. These photos have become a tradition every year, a photo of Estelle in the national dress has come out every year since she could walk. I cannot wait until Oscar is included wearing the Swedish National Dress as well- but for now we will have to settle for overalls.

In these photos, we see Victoria wearing a gold disk necklace, which reader Katrina has found to be from Dulong Fine Jewelry. This Danish brand is most associated with Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and Katrina suggested that perhaps it was a gift from Mary and Frederik to Victoria. I think it is a good possibility! Her dress is from Ralph Lauren (Thanks Ella!)

Oscar's overalls/dungarees come from Mayoral.

Next up in the day was Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, and Prince Alexander opening the Royal Palace in Stockholm.
Sofia is wearing the national dress, without the head covering, and on her feet she is wearing a pair of black low heels with bows on the toe- which we first saw last year when visiting Värmland.

Next up in the day, was Victoria and Daniel attending a ceremony for new Swedish citizens receiving their passports. These kinds of ceremonies are held every year, all over the country, on National Day. Last year Victoria and Daniel also attended one in Uppsala.
For this, Victoria wore her English Garden Print Dress from Oscar de la Renta, carried her Abro woven clutch, and wore what appears to be Dior pumps. Her earrings are from Kreuger Jewellery and she wore a diamond pendant necklace, which was for the most part, hidden under her dress.

This evening, the family took a carriage ride down to the concert at Skansen and then will return to the Palace to participate in the tattoo ceremony with invited guests. (for some reason, Getty does not have any photos of the King and Queen in the carriage processional yet- but they were there!)

All the ladies are wearing the National Dress, established in 1983. The white folded caps on their heads are worn only when they are married, which makes this Sofia's first time wearing one. Estelle wore a braided crown on her head- typical for young girls. Sofia and Madeleine chose to wear non-traditional shoes, which normally results in an article griping about this in some tabloid. Let's save that discussion for a different place- so if you comment complaining about their shoes- I will remove it. Sofia wore the same shoes as she did this morning, and Madeleine wore a pair of black heels- which she wears every year. Sofia's earrings come from Engelbert Stockholm, while her sisters-in-law chose to wear diamonds and pearls.

Madeleine attends a Folk Concert

This morning, Princess Madeleine attended a Folk Music Mas at Hedvig Eleonora Church. This Mass featured the Järvsö Church Choir. Järvsö is in Madeleine's Duchy so it is nice that she attended to support her own Duchy.
She wore a dress from the London Based Brand, Somerset by Alice Temperley. (Thanks Jess) This is a brand which is most associated with the Duchess of Cambridge, but others have worn her clothing as well. Her shoes are a pair that I remember most notably from the opening of Parliament in both 2008 and 2011, however they have never been identified. Her clutch is also an older piece and that has not been identified as well. Perhaps we can find out their designers today. She paired the dress with a belt which appears to be a leather with embellished crocodile skin- perhaps it is this one from Saint Laurent but I am unsure because I have yet to see a photo of the buckle. She wore her heart shaped bangle from Krista Kretzschmar once again and wore simple diamond earrings, allowing her dress to be the statement piece of the ensemble.

Leonore in Gotland

Today marked Princess Leonore's first official engagement. She traveled to Gotland, her duchy, with her parents to undertake a variety of engagements in the area. Chris, Madeleine, and Leonore arrived shortly after 12:00 via airplane. They went straight to meet Haidi- the horse Leonore was given as a Christening gift from Gotland. A live stream of photos can be seen here. She was extremely excited upon her arrival- as you can see below!
Leonore ran all over the place. She gave everyone exercise by running all over the field, which I feel any child would do if given the opportunity. I was watching via live stream and I wanted to run with her! She was given a carrot to feed to Haidi, which she proceeded to eat herself! Leonore is certainly a ball of energy!

She is off to go have lunch now and this post will be updated throughout the day as they undertake more engagements. She got herself a bit wet while playing with the water and brushes to clean Haidi so she changed her dress before leaving. Madeleine mentioned that they expected her to run around because that is who she is as a child- very energetic.

They have now finished eating a lunch of meatballs and mini burgers with ice cream for dessert and are walking through Gotland to their final destination of a children's museum. Along their walk, Leonore got a small bouquet of flowers and she once again showed off her running skills as they walked down the stone street. She looks like she is having a great time!

Leonore arrived wearing a blue and white pleated summer dress from Jacadi and her Pretty Ballerina Ballet Flats. She took her flats off to run around and later put them back on when leaving. Her bow is of course from Livly. When she arrived and got off the plane, she was wearing this scalloped sweater from Jacadi

Madeleine wore a brown outfit- I am not a huge fan. While I understand it is perfect for chasing around Leonore, I would have preferred a less boxy top. Nevertheless, her top comes from Joseph. Her shoes come from Tabitha Simmons. Her sunglasses are from Valentino. Her heart-shaped bangle bracelet *appears* come from Krista Kretzschmar, but I am waiting to hear back from the designer to confirm. CONFIRMED When getting off the plane, she was pictured wearing a white jacket which readers have informed me comes from Moncler.

After their time playing in the field with the horse, Madeleine changed into a pair of wedges from Vince. Her new bag, we finally got a good look at and is from Chloe

While playing with Haidi, she got her self a bit wet so she changed into a white and blue dress from Livly.

Other fun bits of the visit included Chris revealing he is taking Swedish Lessons but needs finds it hard when he is not fully submersed in the culture. Madeleine said she prefers living in Sweden and that she misses riding and Chris compared Leonore's energy level to a monkey- which I think is safe to say is an accurate representation of what we saw today. In some of the photos you can see Chris holding a riding helmet for Leonore. She didn't end up needing the helmet as she was more interested in running than in her horse- but her helmet comes from Casco.

Welcoming New Ministers at the Palace

Today Crown Princess Victoria joined her father, the King, for greeting 3 newly appointed ministers as well as attending the Cabinet meeting. These cabinet meetings happen 3-4 times a year with the purpose of each Minister updating the King and informing him on what their current initiatives are. This helps keep the King informed with what is happening in the Government so he can better represent Sweden abroad. As heir to the throne, Victoria sits in on these meetings to get herself acquainted with the process as well as get the updates so she can better represent Sweden.

Victoria wore a new matching navy blouse and skirt from Lindex's Holly & Whyte Collection, a Swedish budget brand.  They also sell the set in white for those of you looking to get one for yourself!
