Global Child Forum in Pretoria

Princess Sofia is jumping in headfirst to taking on engagements by being the Royal Family's representation to the 2015 Global Child Forum in Pretoria, South Africa. If you don't already know, Global Child Forum is an initiative started by the King and Queen in 2009 with the intention of bringing leaders from all over the world and from a variety of industries and background together to make connections, create partnerships, and discuss topics surrounding Children's Rights. The first forum was held at Stockholm Palace in 2010 and since then they have held a variety of forums in satellite locations all over the world. In addition to holding these forums, Global Child Forum seeks to produce and coordinates studies to provide information on the topics of Children's Rights.

Princess Sofia arrived yesterday in Pretoria. She is wearing a top from Gant and her Peace Sign necklace from Sophie by Sophie.

Last night she also attended a dinner hosted by the Swedish Embassy in South Africa in connection with the forum. (A video and more photos can be seen here and here)

For this dinner she wore a dress from Armani (most notably seen in her first official photos, although she wore it to a Project Playground Fundraiser in 2013) with a pair of black heels (perhaps her Gant ones but I cannot tell). She wore her hair back in a ponytail and wore her Engelbert Diamond Hoop Earrings. She carried a small black quilted clutch which I do not recognize.

Today was the day of the actual forum in Pretoria. Sofia gave her first recorded speech as a Princess of Sweden and first in English. She did an amazing job. My personal favorite part of the speech was towards the end.
As long as children suffer we have work to do – as individuals and common commitment.
This is such an important point and she emphasized it wonderfully. If you would like to read the rest of her speech, which I highly recommend, you may do so here.
For the forum, Sofia wore a black pinstriped pantsuit with a plain white top. She again wore her Peace Sign Necklace from Sophie by Sophie and pumps from Gant.

Sofia commented saying that she will be staying in South Africa for a bit to visit Project Playground, the Charity she co-founded 5 years ago in Langa, South Africa.

Dinner at the Palace

On Friday, the entire royal family -sans Princess Madeleine- attended the Sverigemiddag at the Royal Palace of Stockholm. This dinner is given once a year since its start in 2013. The King and Queen invite a variety of Swedes from all the counties who have made a contribution to society in some area or another. Last year there were farmers, sports players, and leaders just to give you a few different ideas of who is invited. This dinner is held to recognize their work but also to give the royal family a chance to hear about what is going on in the areas they come from. This dinner is not to be confused with Representationsmiddags which tend to be held twice a year. The Representationsmiddags are a more formal occasion where the jewels are pulled out. The Sverigemiddag is a less formal affair and there are no jewels or orders. Cocktail or long dresses may be worn and normally the family splits it up so at least one person is wearing a short dress.
This year Sofia got the short dress and Victoria debuted her baby bump in a long gown. (Side note- Victoria is pregnant!!!!! Due in March 2016! I was so excited I made myself sick to the point where I thought I was going to pass out!) Silvia always comes in a gown so this was not a surprise to me.

Sofia wore a dress from Dagmar with what appear to be her Saint Laurent Pumps. Everyplace I read about this look, everyone is not a fan. I on the other hand love the dress on her! I think the gold undertone goes splendidly with her hair and I hope she wears it again!

Victoria wore a long gown from Adrianna Papell. She has the short version of this dress as well which she wore not terribly long ago to a dinner at the Haga for one of the charities that their (Daniel and Victoria) wedding fund supports. It looks like she wore her grey By Malene Birger heels to match.

Silvia wore a black dress with a monochrome wrap around it. Again everyone I read seemed not to be a fan but I thought she looked splendid! Best use of this wrap to date. I have always hated when she has worn it in the back but this is a great look for it. However I am not so sure about the brooch she is using to hold it closed. Maybe a diamond one would have looked better instead of her ivory flower.

Project Playground Gala

Tonight, Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip attended a fundraising Gala for Project Playground. This was the second year for this specific gala in Örnsköldsvik organized by Ulla Sjöström. There was an auction which raised nearly half a million SEK (about 60,000 USD / about 540000 Euro) which will go to supporting Project Playground's many projects in South Africa Townships. Various artists preformed- such as Robin Stjernberg, Linda Brava, Fredric Benedict Nybladh and Waterloo and comedian Per Andersson kept the audience laughing. The full press release can be read here.

Sofia wore a white dress from Reiss (first seen in official photos before the wedding) and carried a clutch from Dagmar. She wore white pumps which I suspect to be the same pair, that has yet to be identified, from Princess Leonore's Baptism. And as always she wore her Project Playground bracelet on her wrist.

What did you think of her look?

Sofia's Outfits in Värmland

Sofia and Carl Philip just finished their visit to Värmland, their Duchy, where we saw 5 different outfits of Sofia's. Check out what she wore!

Day 1:

When arriving at the train station in Karlstad ahead of their 2 day visit they were greeted by the Governor of Värmland, Kenneth Johansson, and his wife Viola. Sofia wore a brown coat and top from Gant, earrings from Englebert Stockholm, and carried her Longchamp bag. Her black suede heels feature a kitten heel and bow on the toe. The shoes have not been identified. A very comfortable looking outfit for traveling.

After being greeted at the Governor's Residence, Sofia and Carl Philip changed their outfits and went off to Byamossarna Nature Reserve. There they were able to see one of their wedding gifts, a 3.5km long foot trail with a rest shelter. This pathway is named Heritigparets Vandringsled, which loosely translates to Duke Couple's Walking Trail.

For this portion visit, Sofia and Carl Philip wore coats from Stutterheim Raincoats, as it was a bit wet. Her top comes from Sandro and her boots from Tretorn. For earrings and a necklace she chose to wear one of her favorite brands, Drakenberg Sjölin.

After this they visited Marbacka where they visted Selma Lagerlof's house to learn about the first women to win a Nobel Prize in Literature. They were able to meet some of the people as they walked along the streets.

For this part of the day, Sofia had another outfit change. She changed into a black and white dress from Sandro and a pair of black sandals from Maje. Her necklace comes from Drakenberg Sjölin

For the final part of the day, the Prince Couple attended a dinner held by the Governor at the Governor's Residence. There they met various people from all around Värmland.

For this reception, Sofia chose a black dress from Zara which she paired with her Kurt Geiger nude Pumps. Her earrings were the big statement piece of the outfit and they come from Pipols Bazaar

Day 2:

On the second day of their visit, Sofia and Carl Philip started the day in Almentorget (Almen Square) in Karlstad where they took a boat to Mariebergsskogen. There they saw a display at Natrurum going by train to a Children's Vegetable Garden. There the head gardner was able to tell them about how they work with various groups of children to learn about gardening. Sofia and Carl Philip were also able to talk with some of the children who have been involved, which resulted in some adorable photos.

After lunch at the beach, they visited Ztorylabs. Ztory offers an "all you can read" service for digital magazines and children's books. After attending celebrations in Karlstad Square, they visited the Consumer Agency to get information about their activities. Following this, they went via guided boat tour to Kristinehamn. They heard the history of Kristinehamn during their trip and at the end were able to meet with children Kristinehamn's Canoe Sailors who told about their activities.
Day 2 only saw one outfit for Sofia, although she did change shoes halfway through the day. She wore a dress from Gant, in the same print as the shirt she wore when arriving the previous day. Her shoes also come from Gant, until she changed into her black bow shoes we saw when she arrived via train the previous day. Her earrings come from Pilgrim (thanks Anna!) and a UFO bracelet featuring a star. She also wore her Stutterheim Raincoat at various parts throughout the day.

With all the outfits, she wore her Project Playground Bracelet.

Sofia in IRO

Today the newly titled Princess Sofia took on her first solo engagement attending an diploma ceremony for Project Playground and Lugna Gatan in Stockholm. The diplomas were given to the first group of South African youth who were trained in the Lugna Gatan's methodology. Project Playground and Lugna Gatan are working together in Langa, South Africa to help people out of isolation in an area of high crime, and into a positive environment. If you want to read more about these two organizations- check here!

For this engagement, Sofia wore a new top from IRO with black trousers and a pair of heeled sandals from Sofie Bly (seen here). On her wrist she wore a cross bracelet which I suspect to be from Sophie by Sophie and her Project Playground Bracelet.

Victoriadagen Review

I appologize for this post coming almost 2 weeks after Victoriadagen happened but I was away. I am back now (for a short time before I leave again for a week or so) so here is a quick recap of what was worn at Victoriadagen 2015.

Sofia wore a dress from Karen Millen, a jacket from Moncler which I suspect she borrowed from Madeleine, and pumps from ACNE.

Madeleine wore a new jacket from Blumarine and a pair of heels from Givenchy which she has had for a while. This was Madeleine's first public engagement since giving birth to Prince Nicolas.

When attending the concert, Victoria wore the traditional Öland dress with earrings from Kreuger Jewellery.
However when she greeted the people at Solliden Slott she wore a new Ralph Lauren Dress, a pair of gold hoop earrings from Sophie by Sophie, a bracelet from Kreuger Jewellery, and shoes which come from H&M.

Wedding Day!!

Well I am off to a family wedding so a detailed post will have to wait but- Sofia wore a dress from Ida Sjöstedt. Victoria wore a gown from H&M's Conscious Collection, and Madeleine was in Elie Saab. (They all looked amazing.)

Well we finally can call her Princess Sofia! Sofia and Carl Philip were married yesterday in a fantastic ceremony full of surprises and little twists that made is personal while also being a state occasion. I loved every minute of it! Let's start our review off with the bride as it only seems fitting!
The royal court described Sofia's dress as the following.
"The bride's wedding dress, in three shades of white, was created by the Swedish designer Ida Sjöstedt. The dress is made from silk crepe overlaid with Italian silk organza. Couture lace made by José María Ruiz was applied to the dress and the train was hand-cut and then hand-stitched in Ida Sjöstedt's atelier in Stockholm."
Her veil had the same detailing. As a wedding gift from the King and Queen she received a new tiara which featured diamond palmette motifs and what looked to be emeralds upon the top. I think it is a beautiful tiara and while I am ashamed that she did not wear the Connaught Tiara (which made an appearance don't worry) I guess I should be happy that she has a tiara of her own as her sisters-in-law already do. For her earrings she looked to be wearing Queen Josefina's Stomacher Earrings which were small enough not to over shine the dress and tiara but they carried the right amount of sparkle!
Since I already mentioned the Connaught Tiara, I guess next we should look at Crown Princess Victoria's wedding outfit. Victoria surprised us and wore a custom H&M dress. Who would have thought we would see H&M at a royal wedding! (Actually I saw another H&M gown as well so I guess anything is possible) Apparently Victoria saw this skirt from the H&M Conscious Collection and had her stylist contact them to see if they could make it into a dress for her. She looked stunning and I think she made an excellent choice.
For jewels Victoria gave us a real treat by wearing the Connaught Tiara for the first time ever. I love how simple yet stunning this tiara is. Victoria has worn it as a necklace once before but never as a tiara so I was extremely excited to see her in it at the wedding. (Even if it meant that Sofia would not be wearing it) Victoria wore pearl earrings from the Bernadotte Collection and a diamond bow brooch with a pearl drop (both which we have seen Victoria wear before). The brooch can be traced all the way back to Victoria of Baden. Her pin on her back was a small diamond brooch but I am unsure if it is one of the diamond buttons or her brooch from Lilian and Bertil.

Estelle was also there acting as a bridesmaid, something that was very much expected. She wore a dress from Ida Sjöstedt and a bow and shoes from Livly. She carried a miniature bouquet of flowers matching Sofia's. Estelle had some fantastic moments which I am sure we will look at shortly as the schedules are looking bear for the Swedish Royal Family in the next week or two. (Which is quite understandable with the big affair they just put on).
Moving on to Madeleine- She wore a gown from Elie Saab's Resort 2015 Collection which she had modified to fit her 9 month adorable baby bump. She was glowing. She carried a clutch which is also from Elie Saab and I saw that she went with lower heels than she is normally used to, something I was very pleased to see!
Madeleine gave us flashbacks to her wedding with the jewels. She wore her wedding tiara, the Carl XVI Gustaf Modern Fringe, which is suspected to have been a gift from the King to the Queen on their 10th Wedding Anniversary. It is Madeleine's favorite tiara to wear and she probably choose it for that reason as well as it's lightness in weight. She paired it with the Vasa earrings and a bracelet I had never seen before. She wore the diamond bow brooch and on her back was one of the diamond buttons.
Leonore turned up in all her adorableness and fidgetyness! She looked adorable wearing a dress which was once worn by King Gustaf VI Adolf (the dress is over a hundred years old). She was extremely intrigued by everything from the tiaras to the ceiling to Queen Margrethe! She was passed down the line of aunt, uncle, grandmother a few times and at one point some of us were joking that Sofia was going to end up holding her!
Finally Queen Silvia- She turned up in a dress that just screamed typical Silvia. Nothing too spectacular or surprising but I was pretty close with my color prediction of purple. Her dress had a purple hint to it- or at least in my eyes it did.
As for jewels I was correct in my prediction of the Leuchtenburg Sapphires being brought out. While this is one of Silvia's "big guns" it is actually quite lightweight making it easy to carry on your head for an extended period of time. (Which the wedding celebration was- Silvia and Carl Gustaf did not leave until around 4am!) On her back Silvia had a diamond brooch which I suspect to be one of the diamond buttons.
Over all it was a fabulous wedding and my jewel predictions were 50% correct. Victoria surprised me by not wearing any of Lilian's jewels but I was glad to see her in the Connaught! Later in the week I will post about the King's sisters apparel and jewels.
